People view and hear information through different filters. So our responses and actions can be perceived as totally ‘foreign’ to someone who is the complete opposite of us. We are speaking a different language on some level because of our various personalities, strengths, and the way we process information.
It’s hard to understand and value people who don’t communicate like us. That’s why we can tend to hire people who we can understand and get along with quickly without much extra effort.
It’s so much work and wasted time explaining yourself over and over to a colleague (or significant other or child) who just won’t listen!
